Leaving the village of San Savino – small fortress that in medieval times had a commanding position on the South West side of the Lake – you pass a series of Trasimeno castles defending Perugia. Through cultivated land and the woods you make your way to Mongiovino Vecchio, which is another strategic fortress of Perugia, passing by the castle of Montali. You complete your circuit in Panicale, a medieval town which was awarded the appellation of “one among the most charming town of Italy” that is also the name of the association that regroups the villages which have been awarded this appellation.
