Teatro Giuseppe Verdi

The Giuseppe Verdi Theatre is home to the homonymous Philharmonic Society.
The citizens of Castel Rigone begged to build the theatre at the beginning of the 20th century. Since they were music lovers, after organizing a marching band they wanted to have a suitable place to practice music and other artistic forms, thus raising the cultural level of the locals and having fun in a healthy way. Everyone participated in the construction and each member of the Philharmonic for 20 years voluntarily taxed one lira a month. At the time, a lira was certainly burdensome for family budgets!

Since then the theatre has been the most important secular center of the life of Castel Rigone and has reached over the years a high artistic level universally recognized.The musicians of the band were numerous and during the daily exercises the whole village resounded with the music of the various instruments. What a sight it was to walk in the village from one sound to another!
Today the Philharmonic still offers interesting musical and theatrical activities.
