Only a part of the side wall on which the gate rested remains and the side wall was cut with a rounded profile at the top.

One had to pass through this narrow and low gate to reach the main square, Piazza Montarone, along the road that then came straight from Via dell’Ospedale, very steep and in living stone.
The slope and a narrow curve made it difficult for wagons to access the farms of the landowners of Castel Rigone, whose entrances were in the square. So, to improve the viability in 1887 the Municipal Council decided to proceed with the demolition of the crenellated arch and the enlargement of the door by demolition of the side walls, depriving the country of this beautiful construction.
