Quarta torre angolare e Porta Ponente

In this tower, as in the other corner towers and in the Maschio, the bottle-shaped loopholes are still visible. Their shape is related to the development of firearms. The neck of the bottle served to protect the soldier who took aim and the underlying round hole allowed to turn arquebuses and muskets in all directions.

The west gate is the lower outlet of Vicolo Rigone, located on the left.
Looking to the right there is a hill covered by a dense pine forest. In the ’60s the Perugian builders Francesco Severini and Ugo Bastianelli endowed the village with the recreational and sports area: the “la Rigonella” park where a kiosk with Umbrian specialties is operating.
