Pobeto circular hiking

Immerse yourself in Nature: hike through the woods, wade across streams... and enjoy the adventure!

Walking time: 3 hrs and a half

The starting point is located approximately 0.6 miles from the intersection with Strada Pievaiola, in the direction of Monteleone d’Orvieto, at Vocabolo Casale Fargneto.
The rather wide path enters a forest consisting of ancient Turkey oaks, chestnut trees, sparse hornbeams and undergrowth mainly consisting of heather.

Follow the signs and skirt ditches not that deeper along which butcher’s-brooms and maples are to be found. At a certain point, you will wade a ditch and after a few meters you will have to cross it again in the direction of the hill. Take an uphill path leaving on the right a more evident one and make some hairpin bends in the lush forest made of Turkey oak. Skirt a small woodland and arrive at Casale Pobeto. From here, passing through an olive grove and the woods, take the wide road until you reach a semi-ruined agricultural building.

Back into the woods, descend to the floor of the valley admiring the varied specimens of mature beech trees at an altitude well below those usual for central Italy. History says that these beech trees were planted because from the seed painting base colors were extracted. At that time in Città della Pieve there were many painters.

The forest then becomes a high Turkey oak wood (cerreta) particularly suggestive over the seasons.
Through undulating agricultural fields you return to the S.P. 71. Keep going on the paved road in the direction of Città delle Pieve up to the point of the S.P. you entered when starting the hiking, then take the access road of Casale Fargneto.
