Located along the ancient walls, the Church and Monastery of Santa Lucia is one of Città della Pieve’s most historic sites. Originally founded in the 14th century as a home for the Poor Clare nuns, the monastery served for centuries as a center of seclusion and prayer, influencing the urban development of the Castello district.

The church, rebuilt in the 18th century, features a simple façade that conceals a refined Baroque interior, featuring ornate altars and valuable paintings. Its elegant, discreetly spacious central plan and dome were designed by architect Clemente Moghini. A distinctive feature of the complex is the presence of gates, which allowed the nuns to participate in religious services while remaining separated from the outside world.
