Church of San Lorenzo Martyr

Church of San Lorenzo Martyr

Church

In the center of Gioiella there is this pretty little church consecrated to San Lorenzo Martire. Dating back to the late Renaissance, it was built by the Della Corgna dukes.
Rectangular in plan and with a barrel vault with lunette, it includes intercommunicating side bodies that house the four side altars. Inside, the crucifix located behind the main altar is of exquisite workmanship.
The bell tower, set back and detached, has a square base and has a belfry with four arched openings in travertine. The terminal part is cuspidated with the base crowned by hanging arches.
