Originally oriented transversely compared to today, it is an almost square church.
The interior preserves pieces of frescoes dating back to the 13th-14th century, including a pictorial fragment dedicated to the history of San Giuliano l’Hospitaliere. A large frescoed altarpiece on the right wall of the church depicts the Annunciation between Saints Peter and Paul, from the late fifteenth century. A noteworthy detail inside the Chapel of Santa Lucia is a 1949 painting by Gerardo Dottori with some episodes from the life of the saint.
