Clock Tower

Clock Tower

Historical place Village / castle

The Clock Tower, located in the center of the town, belongs to the second fortification nucleus of the Castle of Passignano, dating back to the 10th-11th century. Most likely, this new tower had the function of a keep, that is, of last defense in the event of an attack, which was characterized by the greater height of the tower compared to the others (even if in the case of Passignano its prominence was partly undermined by being in lower position than the Rocca) and for not being equipped with direct access.
Although not designed as a permanent residence, it could be inhabited in case of need.

The tower can be reached on foot through the path of the steps of San Bernardino, and from there you can enjoy an enchanting view of the medieval village below and the lake.
