Sanctuary of Madonna del Soccorso (of the Relief)

Church

Elegant church with an unusual shape, dedicated to the cult of the Virgin of Soccorso. It was built in the early ‘700, on the project of the two architects Alessio Lorenzini e Svizzero Perugini, at the place of a previous votive chapel two-century older, that already hosted the image of the Virgin.
According to the tradition, from the window grille of an old chapel, then became a barn, the Madonna del Soccorso appeared to a shepherdess called Cecilia.
