Oratory of San Bernardino

Oratory of San Bernardino

Church

Just outside the walls of the village of Gaiche, next to the parish church of San Lorenzo is the Oratory of San Bernardino. Once used as a sheepfold, it preserves inside some splendid frescoes; the most important work is a Madonna with Child fixed in the typical almond, surrounded by San Giorgio, San Bernardino and other angelic figures. The mastery of the stroke, the colors, the depth of field, the typical cherubs and other aesthetic and technical elements attribute the work to the highest and most expert school of Perugino, most likely to Andrea d’Assisi, known as the Ingenuity.
