The artist Anton Maria Garbi was born in Tuoro sul Trasimeno on May 21, 1718. After an initial apprenticeship in Rome, he was active primarily in Umbria; many of his works are still located in the area around Lake Trasimeno.
The Garbi family established their residence in Tuoro, building it in typical Cortona style. Although privately owned and usually closed, it is open to the public on special occasions, allowing visitors to admire some rooms on the main floor, which are of great interest for their decorations and the remains of several paintings. The large garden overlooking the lake is particularly charming, dotted with sculptures by the artist Vecchi, the last owner of the palace.
